Kristina Rihanoff was born in Vladivostok (Russia), where she was first introduced to dance and became a competitive dancer at age of 7.
Kristina’s years of dancing experience includes everything from ballet, latin and ballroom dance, to salsa and theatre arts. Later in 2008, she joined the hugely popular British show, Strictly Come Dancing (SCD).
In her first season, she was partnered with the well-respected political broadcaster, John Sergeant and eight years later she has become one of the show’s long-standing professional dancers. Kristina has been partnered with a range of celebrities and reached finals twice with Jason Donovan and Simon Webb. The last year on SCD she was partnered with Daniel O’Donnell.
Kristina, tell us more about “One More Dance” Show and your partner Gleb, please
Gleb and his wife Lena are great friends of mine and actually, it was Lena's idea to produce this show in London. She already has done theatre shows like this in Australia and Russia so she is a very experienced producer.
Gleb and I partnered each other on SCD last year in most of the group dances and danced a few solos so we feel very comfortable with doing a show together. Plus we all coming from that very strong school of Russian dancing so it will be a lot of fun to choreograph and create the show.
We really want this show to be a perfect family concert. There will loads of iconic dances from SCD which Gleb and I produced in the past , familiar songs and dance hits sang by incredible vocals of West End superstar Louise Dearman and Strictly singer Patrick Smyth. We also want to make our show interactive and enjoyable for children so we have an audience participation and Q/A.
Well, this will be your first show since you became a mum, right? Tell us your feelings.
This project is very exciting for me as it's the very first time I'm going to put my dancing shoes on after having my little one. Im very nervous about squeezing myself back into tiny costumes ! Lol
I'm very much missing the energy of working with other professionals, creating and choreographing exciting routines so I really looking forward too start rehearsals!
Kristina, what are your favourite places in London?
I love London very much. It was my home for 8 years ! The vibe of this city is incredible and I always feel alive and happy when I'm in London!
I love going to West End Shows. There is so much talent and nothing can beat the life performance!
I love going shopping too (laughing) My favourite is Oxford street of course as it's always so beautiful during the festive season !
When I'm missing home I always go to Mary Vanna restaurant in Knightsbridge ! Nothing like a lovely homemade Russian food !
Can you suggest your top restaurants or bars to go out after “One More Dance” show?
The Savoy is just across from the theatre and during Xmas the hotel has the most gorgeous tree and decorations. It's really worth of going there to take a look around and book an afternoon tea. It's a one of a kind experience!
If you are looking for something very special and unique than I would recommend Bob Bob Ricard on 1 Upper James street in Soho. It serves Russian-inspired Modern British menu and cocktails in cool art deco surrounds.
I have few questions from The Proust Questionnaire.
What is the quality you most like in a man?
Kindness and honestly
What is your greatest fear?
Not be a good parent to my little angel Mila
What is your motto ?
As boring as it sounds not to ever give up on your dream! Dreams do come true but you have to work hard ! I never thought I would make my way from a small Russian city all the way to the biggest show on British television but my passion for my craft took me all the way!
One More Dance Show will take a place at Adelphi Theatre, 11 December 2016
