Bradley Theodore – ‘The Second Coming’ @MaddoxGalleryMayfairMay 12, 2017
London is the epicentre of the whole art and fashion world which brings all people from all over the world to reunite and build up the judgements and express themselves. Another such event happened on the 20th of Aril where Bradly Theodore came up with his second public coming at the Maddox Gallery - “The Second Coming”.
Born in Turks & Caicos, an island group east of Cuba, Bradley Theodore now lives in New York City where he is an integrated part of the art scene.
Classical figures from history and contemporary icons provide inspiration for Theodore, such as Mona Lisa, Frida Kahlo, Marie Antoinette, Coco Chanel and Her Majesty The Queen.
However, his most enduring theme is the fashion world. He has deployed his artistic skills to depict the likes of Anna Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld, Kate Moss, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne.
The party itself had given us an opportunity to enter the insider’s world of the artist by just exchanging few words with Bradley, having a glance around the art work or even choosing a few to buy yourself!
”When I see death, I see life, and I feel that death, as a symbol, is just black. I paint on black because it feels like going into the abyss and bringing out life, colour and emotion.”
In the middle of attention was the painting of the Queen which was hanging right in the middle! Do not forget that the next day was her birthday, but the Bradly party crowed turned out to be louder on the night and possibly not so loud next day as the bar crew made everyone very much welcome.
Another crazy thing which totally drawn crowds attention was the Rolls Royce at the entrance of the gallery painted all over in the colour scheme of Bradleys work, which totally run had to run my colleague over! (ooops)
Maddox Gallery was the perfect place for hosting the event. The gallery itself is not big in scale but has enough of place to fit all Bradley’s work in it. The amazing Dj playing the music made the atmosphere so vibrant and made us want to socialize and enjoy this evening to the maximum.
“We’ve created a world where shape and colour come together to lead the basis for our society. We call that art. Not only do you want to shape our world, it wanted to shape us. I would call that fashion.” - Bradley Theodore
